Mexican Folk Art Christmas

I’ve loved Mexican folk art ever since visiting Tulum as well as the International Folk Art Museum a few years later— there’s something so cheerful about the color palettes and unexpected materials. This year I went down an Etsy rabbit hole and was excited to find so many fun holiday decor pieces! Techniques and materials include traditional painted tin (Hojalata), Otomi embroidery, felting, corn husks, and ceramic candelabras. Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite finds to brighten a gloomy winter during the holidays!

Otomi Embroidery Stocking — Yucu Ninu

Quirky painted tin (Hojalata) animal ornaments- Rancho Alpino

Tree of Life Candelabra— Rosemary Nest

Nativity Candelabra— Wild Lily Mercantile

Nativity Retablo— Kallpa

Corn Husk Virgencita— Rancho Alpino
